For decades, Earth's Scientists have theorized that alternate universes exist, but none of them could pinpoint where or how. Over the years, the notion that worlds other than ours exist side-by-side in the same space without ever touching one another had become the standardized way of thinking... But all of that is about to change.

Unbeknownst to most humans on Earth, these alternate universes do indeed touch - and sometimes, though we do not yet know how, portals open between the two worlds. And when they do, creatures of legend, humans and others may cross from their world into ours. These portals open at random intervals all over the world - but the area with the most frequent portal activity is ironically a quiet village on the outskirts of a large city.

In fact, portals were opening in this village so often over the years that some of the citizens of the village began referring to it as a Crossroads, or the nexus point at which all of these other alternate universes overlap. So tread carefully, traveler, or you may find yourself unwittingly cast through the Crossroads and into an entirely new dimension.

Emeria - Medieval Fantasy RP

Sun Jun 5, 2016, 9:13 AM

[ Home | Rules | Quick Ref Guide | Wanted Ads | Join ]

UPDATE: Come at me, bro!  Aerlion just sent a small reconnaissance force into the Kingdom of Geheim.  The war has officially begun!

We are Emeria, an advanced Roleplaying group for mature players. Set in a fantasy medieval environment, Emeria operates with two primary forms of supernatural abilities: Psionic, and magical. It is home to both humans and fantastical beasts, do-gooders and scheming evil villains. With two defined Kingdoms, an Order of god-touched Champions, and a whole world to be discovered, there is so much here for you to see and do -- the limit is really just your imagination!

Our story begins within the borders of two kingdoms: Geheim and Aerlion. The former, ruled by ruthless Emelia Echtheit, is a nation of craggy mountains and people just stubborn enough to carve out homes in the shadow of the unyielding rock. The latter, a kingdom ruled by the idealistic Declan Merrick, is a land of gentle, rolling hills, and soft-hearted villagers.

Just three months ago, the High King - ruler over both Aerlion and Geheim - died without leaving an heir to take his place. And while King Declan may have a claim to the throne through a distant familial link, Queen Emelia possesses both the willpower and the supplies to build an immense army.

Meanwhile, the Argents struggle to remain neutral. Their creed obliges them to help the citizens of each Kingdom without bias, but with both Monarchs pressing the Gifted individuals to use their powers to aid in the war, each Argent will have to search his or her soul and decide whom they wish to aid in this fight - if anyone at all.

Now, guided by their Councilors, and aided by assassins, knights, and spies, the two Monarchs wage war on each other from afar. Their success or failure is in YOUR hands!

Commission Your Own!
Updated Commission Information {09/30/17} by PointyHat

Resource: Pixaby

Sun Aug 2, 2015, 9:05 AM
I discovered this site while searching for images whose license stated they were free for personal use.  Despite all the times I've searched for this very thing before, I had never come across Pixaby until just the other day.  Judging by the number of available images, I don't think it's because this site is brand new.   There are lots of other free stock photo resources out there, but this one has so far provided me with the best QUALITY of images, if not the highest quantity.  That's okay, though!  I'll take quality over quantity any day. :)

The images listed here state that they are free for commercial use, too, so get in there and take a look around!

Hello again, ladies and gents!

Today I'm going to be sharing with you another useful resource: Brusheezy.com

This site hosts hundreds (if not thousands) of free Photoshop Brushes that you can download and use in a variety of ways.  When I can't make my own brush (or lack the time or motivation to do so), I often search this site to see what's available to me.  If you've never visited it before, I recommend checking it out!  Just remember to read the terms and conditions set forth by the creator of the brush.  The brushes might be free for use, but the creator might require such things as credit in your Deviation, a link to their site, a Like on Facebook or a Pin on Pinterest.  And really, since they were so kind as to allow you to use their brushes for free, those are easy requests to fulfill!

Hello, ladies and gents!

It's been a little quiet around here lately, hasn't it?  I'm still here, battling against a serious case of the blues (I guess is the best way call it), and it's keeping me from getting any serious artwork done.  I have done some doodles, some minor things like helping friends create forum signature graphics -- but nothing major.  I can slowly feel traces of my inspiration returning, and I can only hope that continues.  But in the mean time, I wanted to share with you an excellent resource I found on YouTube.

This channel is called "Draw with Jazza," and consists of weekly videos uploaded by freelance artist Josiah Brooks.  The videos cover a wide range of subjects, including character design, facial expressions, basic anatomy lessons, shading/coloring tips, animation tutorials, and so on.  He makes his tutorial files available to viewers for free, so that you can take a closer look at everything that was covered in the tutorial and use it to help improve your skills!

I've watched other artists on YouTube, and one thing I noticed that really sets Jazza apart from the rest is: Jazza doesn't spend a lot of time rambling.  Many artists are uploading videos without a clear script, or they say "Um" a lot, or they get off subject and begin talking about something entirely different from what the video was supposed to be about.  One channel I watched, the artist did nothing but complain about his equipment, the software he used, etc. and did very little explaining of his actual process or the tips he was supposed to be sharing.  Jazza gives you the information in a clear, concise way.  He stays on topic (mostly! lol) and he has a friendly, charismatic air about him that makes his videos enjoyable.  He also knows when to fast forward through something, and when to stop and give more detail.

I've found it to be a very useful resource, and it's for that reason that I wanted to share what I've found with you guys!

Even if you aren't Flash animators, Jazza includes tutorials on shading, creating dynamic images, figure drawing, facial expressions, etc. that can be used in any artistic medium, not just in Flash.

So go take a look, spend some time browsing through all the videos he's got up there, and see if it's as useful to you as it has been to me!

My March Challenge

Journal Entry: Tue Mar 3, 2015, 9:42 AM

Drawing Practice

This month I challenged myself to complete a NEW piece of art almost every day.  In the hopes of increasing my speed and accuracy on a piece, I limit my work time to 5 hours, and I aim for a completed piece in 3.  I'm looking for composition, accuracy of form and perspective, thorough shading, etc. and not just a thrown-together clump of pen strokes. Haha

Since I'm mixing commission work in with my daily requests, you won't see some of the items until the commissions are complete.  But in the instance of the Furcadia patch, I'm hoping to complete one patch item per day, minimum.

I got many requests from friends, Facebook Fans, and people here on DA -- and then of course I have commission work, too!

Here's what's been done so far:

Week 1: & FREE DOWNLOAD - Shamrocks + Stripes Pattern by PointyHat & COMMISSION - Furc Mushroom Patch by PointyHat

Week 2: March Challenge - Day 09 - 'Pup Pup' by PointyHat & March Challenge - Day 10 - Penguin by PointyHat & FREE DOWNLOAD - Wood Grain Pattern by PointyHat
Also:  Practice Painting Noses (not done yet, trying to do at least one nose per day, for a total of 6 noses. ^^  Stay tuned!)

Keep watching for more requests and completed commissions!

$5 ART CREDIT FOR REFERRALS!

• If you refer a friend to me, and that friend commissions me for $5 or more, you will receive a $5 credit toward custom art!  This is not a $5 cash payment or $5 worth of points from me.  It goes toward artwork and nothing else.
NOTE: Your friend needs to mention you at the time of their purchase and not after the fact.

• I do not place limits on the number of people you refer, so long as those people are spending $5 or more with me.  That means you could potentially refer 111 people and get $555 in free art if all of those people commission $5 or more from me!

• This program works on the honor system, so please don't try to cheat me into getting free art.  If I suspect this happens, you'll be added to a ban list and won't receive any art from me at all.

If you've been following my journals at all, you know I've been waiting on a custom built PC to arrive... Well, it's here!  And a full week ahead of schedule!  I could not be happier with that. :D

So, now I go about getting this thing all set up, re-downloading programs and installing my Adobe Design Suite again.

In the mean time, feel free to browse my gallery and leave me some constructive feedback!  I love your comments, and I don't get enough of them on my submissions!  Help me improve by offering tips or tricks, tell me what I did well, or suggest new pieces of art you'd like to see me make (when I'm not working on commissions)!

New PC on the way! :D

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 31, 2015, 11:18 AM
I'm excited to report that I have a new PC on the way sometime in the coming week!  The unit passed the testing phase and was sent to the shipping department yesterday.  I imagine it will arrive sometime around Friday of the coming week, but I hope it gets here earlier!

What this means for YOU is: faster, more powerful PC is able to create images in a higher resolution (printable paintings can be 300dpi or larger without causing my system to crash!) and I can install a wider variety of art programs to provide you with the best possible results.  Currently, my tiny (115GB ) internal hard drive is full to the brim, and yet we only have the basics installed on it. Haha.  I can try to run various programs from my external drive, but it's slow and often hangs when I'm trying to save documents or use various tools.

So!

Keep your eyes peeled for the day when that new PC arrives, 'cause I'm going to be creating bigger and better things from that point on!

Also: Updated the status on my current commissions. :)

Aanndd... the flu.

Journal Entry: Wed Jan 21, 2015, 1:59 PM
I can't get ahead.  Just when I thought I was back and ready to go, I get knocked on my ass by the worst flu bug I've encountered in years.  High grade fevers, body aches, severe chills... you name it, I got it.  Now it's all I can do to stay awake for a couple of hours at a time.  Must've caught something from someone on the plane back home.

UGH!

Bear with me, folks.  I promise I'll get to those commissions as soon as I can.

EDIT:  Okay, now that I'm feeling mostly human again, I'm back to the commissions.  Some of you may have received update whispers and/or Notes from me yesterday.  If you're waiting on work-in-progress from me, please check your inbox!

Feeling Refreshed and Rejuvenated!

Journal Entry: Sun Jan 18, 2015, 11:42 AM
Hubby and I had an excellent time in Las Vegas, NV for our birthday bash!  We saw the sights, took in a few shows, ate too much junk food and enjoyed free booze whenever we could. Haha.

But toward the end of the trip, I found myself really wishing I could get back to my art -- guess that means my Muse has been refreshed, too!

I'll be getting back to your guys' commissions on Monday, once I'm all caught up on laundry and sleep! lol

Birthday Vacation!

Journal Entry: Fri Jan 9, 2015, 10:50 AM
I'll be out of town this coming week to celebrate my and my husband's birthdays.

It's been years since I've celebrated my birthday (I didn't even get a 21st bday bash! :( ), and over one year since hubby and I last took any kind of vacation, so this trip we're taking will be AMAZING.

I apologize in advance for delays in commission work, but I promise to get back to everything as quickly as I can when we come back! :)

My three commission request slots are FULL.

TWO wait list spots are still available to snag, but hurry!  They'll go quickly!

It's here! New Tablet! {12/28/14}

Journal Entry: Sun Dec 28, 2014, 11:53 AM
Okay, so the tablet actually arrived yesterday -- but I get to spend today installing the thing and fiddling with the settings until they work the way I want them to, and then I get to spend tomorrow doing some practice sketches to get accustomed to the new unit.  Woo!  I'm both excited and a little nervous.  It's been so long since I've been able to do a digital painting, I'm worried that my skills will have gotten rusty between then and now.  Fingers crossed that I didn't lose much in the interim!

Commissions are open once more, so if you need a painting, pixel art, or anything -- send a note!

Drawing Tablet Ordered! Yay! (12/22/14)

Journal Entry: Fri Aug 8, 2014, 12:11 PM
I officially have a new drawing tablet on order.  This one's an off brand (I couldn't stomach paying hundreds of dollars for a TINY Wacom tablet with features I don't need!) but it had many good reviews and seems to do all the things I need it to do without a sky-high price.

Hopefully it'll arrive before the new year does, but if not, I've waited this long, what's a little bit longer?

I have two open commission slots and three wait list slots available! Contact me if you're interested in snagging one.

I am now offering a $5 art credit to anyone who refers a paying customer to me.  There are some terms and conditions, of course, so I'll outline them here:

• If you refer a friend to me, and that friend commissions me for $5 or more, you will receive a $5 credit toward custom art!  This is not a $5 cash payment or $5 worth of points from me.  It goes toward artwork and nothing else.
NOTE: Your friend needs to mention you at the time of their purchase and not after the fact.

I have had the most ridiculous past few days.  Got some very aggravating news from my boss, threw my back out, had to cancel plans with a good friend for the weekend, the neighbor got a new dog who barks at EVERYTHING and I think I'm getting a cold.

Previously when life was rough, I de-stressed with drawing!  It was super relaxing to turn on some good music and while away an hour or two with artwork and maybe chatting online with friends.

Well, I tried switching back to pencil and paper artwork and discovered that I just can't get into it like I used to!  I don't have the ability to blend colors, to resize and reposition stuff at will, and worst of all, there's no CTRL+Z!  Haha.

So I wasn't able to de-stress at all, and yesterday I just about lost my cool.  My husband went to work and got this old busted PC in better shape, and he surprised me by ordering me a new graphics tablet!  Eee!

With any luck, it'll get here when it's supposed to, it will WORK the way it's supposed to, and then I can get back to drawing!

I will keep you all posted, but please give me a little while to accustom myself to the new tablet and maybe crank out a test image or two, and then I'll be back at it! Those of you I owe commissions to can rejoice!  Haha

I'm so excited.

EDIT:  THE DRAWING TABLET IS HERE, IT'S HERE!  EEE!  Now to see if I can't escape from work early enough to go pick it up at the post office before they close.  Fingers crossed!

First, let me thank all the people to which I owe commissions. You guys have been super patient with me and my situation since my home was broken into! <3

Second, things are progressing slowly here at my home. We are a week away from our ideal goal date for putting the house up for sale, and I am SO impatient! My husband and I refuse to buy new electronics to replace what was stolen, because we fear that will just encourage someone else to break in.

PLEASE bear with me! I promise I'm not trying to cheat anyone out of their commissioned. pieces. I'm DYING to get back to my artwork!
Well, this has been an interesting experience.  Having all my stuff stolen and learning to get along without such modern-day basics as TV, internet access or even just a game console to pass my free time has been... difficult.

For one thing, artwork, gaming and Netflix were my main ways to unwind and relax after work or on weekends.  I was also building up my artwork portfolio in the hopes of getting a better job.

It's weird, but I had gotten into the habit of doodling/drawing almost every day, and now I miss it terribly!

Trying to look on the bright side, though --  I've managed to accomplish a lot of stuff since I haven't been distracted by games or artwork.  Got two rooms of my house painted, my husband's been working on cleaning up the front yard and prepping for new landscaping, I've been pretty consistent with my workouts every day...

Still.   I miss my drawing tablet and my PC!  :(
I came home from work today to see that my front door had been smashed in. Someone broke in while I was at work. Every electronic device I own is gone, and some jewelry, and the change jar. My PC is gone, my drawing tablet, everything. I'm sorry to say that commissions are going to be closed for the foreseeable future. At least until insurance reimburses us for whatever it can. Note me here if you need to reach me about a commission.

UPDATE:  I now have a super basic, ancient PC up and running for basic tasks like email and Facebook.  My husband and I spent the last few days collecting receipts, serial numbers, etc. for all the items which were stolen from us, but I don't know how long it will take for the insurance company to reimburse what we lost -- or if they'll even give us a fair payment for everything.  I always hear how insurance companies like to low-ball you when it comes to paying that sort of thing back.

I really hope it's enough to at least replace the PCs which were stolen.  They were both pretty new and were ordered custom, which makes it an even more troubling loss.
